Vauxhall Paints The Future With The 2015 Insignia: Ad Break

We’re not going to lie, this is a really strange advertisement for a car. One of the strangest ad breaks we’ve written about in some time, actually. Anyway, here it goes.
Vauxhall is keen on selling the 2015 Insignia, featuring its dainty fuel-sipping engines, rated up to 74.3 mpg on the European cycle. To do this, they’ve coupled the 2015 Insignia with imagery of wildlife and the future. Only, it’s a tad eery.
The 2015 Vauxhall Insignia transforms from car, to robotic birds, then to cyborg buffalos of sorts and finally artificial dolphins round out the future zoo that is this ad break. You’d have to dig deep to find the meaning on what’s being portrayed here. We get it, it’s just not translated too well.
We’d have to rate this one pretty high on the strange scale. Or maybe it’s our American eyes receiving this as strange. Regardless, have a look for yourself below.

sort of has a late model Saab 93 thing going on
That’s exactly the type of information I want to see in a commercial for a vehicle that might capture my interest – how much Co2 it emits and robotic birds and fish.
That’s information that might be included in a slightly longer commercial. Focusing on HP / performance, safety and performance should be the real focus. If it were one of a series of commercials airing during a particular show or at the same time every evening, that’d be another story. But a 30 second “blurb” about Co2 emissions to air as a single commercial? C’mon…
Strange but I have seen stranger.
I guess I am not green enough to appreciate this one. Babies, Dogs and Global warming do not come into play when I buy a vehicle but that is just me.
This advert is not new, it is a slightly revised version of the ad Vauxhall used when the Insignia P2 was first launched. It is off beat but better than kittens on a seat! KTN & Muller please take note.
