The 2015 C7 Corvette Z06 Did Not Run A 7:08 ‘Ring Time

General Motors had previously made everyone aware the 2015 C7 Corvette Z06 did indeed finish a clean lap around the Nürburgring. We were excited, ready to parade the time as the quickest of any Corvette ever, presumably.

But, then, the Nürburgring decided to ban lap times and impose speed limits on the track. How does that fit in if the 2015 Corvette Z06 already clocked its time, you ask? Well, it seems Chevrolet is barred from releasing the official time because of those new rules over in Germany.

So, when we got wind about Autoweek reporting the 2015 Z06 made a pass in the 7:08 timeframe, we were shocked. The 2015 Corvette Z06 is fast, but we’re not sure about 7:08 ‘ring time fast. The publication did not cite their source, but said they spent quite a bit of time at the track to have the deets.

Now, Road & Track has taken matters into its own hands, and has brought in its own source to debunk or verify the rumor. And, it’s bogus. Once again, we have another bogus lap time for the 2015 C7 Z06.

Upon reaching out to its source, the answer was a hard “no” to the notion the 2015 Z06 clocked a lap time of 7:08.

We’re sure we’ll know the ‘ring time for the C7 Corvette Z06 someday, but it won’t be any time soon it seems.

  1. coming soon. gm comedy. GM wants to be exciting. It’s so childish game around the world. and very many things in such a childish game gm. This is one of the GM Style. as sometimes it may be wise to have a game to play it all the time, however, it becomes ridiculous and childish

  3. to place restrictions on the lap times.
But GM had already ridden the lap
at the time when it was not yet time to travel was no talk of limiting
whether GM wants it now silently begin to say that this time may not be available know.
only big big talk talk and talk.
But in fact, it could take advantage of the race laptime purg end though. it has already gone weird. Some manufacturers are already joking that.
total time someone wants to hit somebody over. no matter how, and to.
is also a lot of fraud

  5. Hmm, understand the need to make the change, but since the times were gathered before why ban GM from announcing? Any why does GM care if the track will no longer be used to get official times? Is it still useful in engineering and set up for production vehicles? Is GM hoping the changes will get lifted in time and don’t want to damage that relationship?

IMO, cheaper to test at a track stateside and just go ahead and post the time.

  6. Things are being worked out and they will be able to test and release time again. Right now things have been let’s say involved at the ring and they just need to work through it,

GM did do the time before the ban but there release of the time would only make things more difficult for the track right now.

GM plans to go back to the ring and best to do it on good terms.
