Poll: How Should Buick Price The Cascada Convertible?

Earlier this week, we identified the most direct competitor to the Buick Cascada convertible. And though we already know quite a bit about the Tri-Shield’s drop-top, we don’t know one important element: its price.
So before Buick releases the pricing, we wanted to ask you: what starting price should the Buick Cascada Convertible have in the United States? Before voting, consider that:
- The Cascada’s primary rival — the Audi A3 Cabriolet — starts at $35,600
- The Opel Cascada, the original donor vehicle for the Buick, starts at €26,650 in Germany, or $29,321 USD based on the current exchange rate

I think it has to start under $30K. Frankly, this is no Solstice or Sky. This is a fleet convertible. For just a little more a buyer can get a new Miata if they want something more engaging and fun.
If it was free I probably still wouldn’t buy one.
If it were free, you wouldn’t have to buy one.
It depends on how it’s spec’d. I would sell it as a more up-level option, and start around $30k. It will need to be comparable to the Verano in terms of equipment at a similar price. The Cascada should sell for about $5k over what a similar Verano costs.
With the falling Euro, GM needs to take advantage of this opportunity and be aggressive on pricing and generate incremental volume. It doesn’t need another low volume niche vehicle — that’s what the ELR is for!!!!
Definitely under $30 K and let the media trumpet its value.
Well we had the Reatta for a few years and it wasn’t a huge success , its a niche market . I believe starting at the $30,000 price for a basic drop top is a good place to start . But who came up with the name ? It sounds like a bug you would step on and kill !? Does Cascada mean something in a diff language ?
It’s Spanish for waterfall.
$24k to fleets, $26k to consumers. Otherwise Camaro Convertible will just destroy it in sales.
If you price Cascada at $29k or above, even fleets will pay the extra $2k and get the Camaro with infinitely better resale value, horsepower, performance, handling, speed, interior, legroom, yadda, yadda.
Really this underscores how an Alpha roadster program would benefit GM at the next gas price hike. Camaro’s 2.0T yields fuel economy in scratching distance of Cascada. If gas spikes, there will be considerable value in a starter model, RWD, 48 mpg coupe/roadster program…
… This is why all the Japanese automakers are chasing the Kei car movement. Honda S660, et al.
Cascada is a sleek, sexy car in the photos that kind of underwhelms when you see it for real. I really wanted to like this car, I really did – guess the short hood/long passenger compartment FWD proportions just don’t work as well on a drop top – at least to these eyes. This one just doesn’t create much lust in your heart. That said, I don’t believe that Cascada will be cross-shopped a lot with Camaro and Mustang rag-tops any more than it will be cross-shopped with Mazda MX-5’s just because all their tops happen to go down. This is not a car for automotive enthusiasts – it’s for taking your spouse and the (grand)kids out for ice cream cones on a starry night . It is a competently designed package that should transport up to 4 people and a bit of stuff in comfort and style. Just keep the base price below $30 grand and loaded ones around $40 and Cascada will do just fine for Buick and GM.
