While the U.S. has been graced with the convenience and security of General Motors’ OnStar system for some time, our friends across the pond are just now experiencing what makes OnStar such an asset to drivers.
In fact, the system is receiving quite a bit of love from critics, as UK-based publication Auto Express has awarded its 2015 Technology Award to OnStar.
“It’s a hi-tech revolution that promises to make owning a Vauxhall an even greater experience for thousands of drivers across the UK,” summarized Auto Express.
Opel/Vauxhall OnStar includes a bevy of features to keep drivers connected including, 24-hour automatic crash response, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, Roadside Assistance, Destination Download, Vehicle Diagnostics and remote control of various OnStar functions through drivers’ smartphones via the OnStar app.
Starting this August, OnStar advisors, based in Luton, UK, will be available around the clock to service drivers and handle requests and emergencies situations.
OnStar has proven to be an incredible asset to General Motors and its vehicle brands, and GM expects the service to continue driving innovation in the future.
OnStar will be introduced in 13 European markets initially, and all OnStar services will be free of charge for the first 12 months after vehicle activation.
