One Chevrolet Volt Passes 200,000 Miles

We already knew that the Chevrolet Volt is a reigning champ in fuel efficiency, but now its longevity is beginning to impress.
Erick Belmer bought his 2012 Chevrolet Volt about a year ago with 20,000 miles on the odometer. And within four months, the odometer climbed to 146,000 miles. Both of these milestones were shared with us by InsideEVs, including Belmer’s latest achievement. During an interview, Belmer stated that he hasn’t noticed any loss in battery capacity, and that he is more than happy with the vehicle.
As you can imagine, Belmer does a ton of driving. Through it all, he says that the Volt has held up flawlessly. Not many people get to daily drive their dream car, especially when the daily commute is 220 miles there and back. Regular maintenance includes oil changes every 38,000 miles and rotating the tires every 10,000 miles. Beyond that, Belmer really hasn’t had to much else to the car, which is impressive to say the least.
We’ve sure seen plenty of reasons to love the Volt lately, and with the all-new 2016 Volt on the horizon, has the plug-in car sparked any interest in you? Give us your feedback in the comment section below.

Where did he even go??

126,000 thousand miles within four months is approximately 1,050 miles each day. Sounds a little unrealistic to me!
You could drive 1,050 miles in a day by sticking to the highways.
But to do so means driving 16.5 hours each day with a 7.5 hour rest. Every day. For four months.
I’m calling bull.
This is just really poorly written. If you go to the linked source material, the four months refers to the four months time between two of the source articles. If you go to the links you see that the mileage went from 120,000 to 146,000 in those four months. The 146,000 miles is over a two year time span.
Indeed, the article is pure rubbish. If you go to the voltstats.net for the vehicle in question you can see all the data you want (the data is accurate as it gathered directly from the vehicle via satellite).
The vehicle ln question is here:http://www.voltstats.net/Stats/Details/1579
I’ve had my 2015 Volt for just over 3 months and have 11,000k on it. 8,000 of them in electric! Love this car and couldnt be happier. Hopefully I will hit 200,000 miles one day! Thanks Chevy for a great car.
But according to the geniuses at CR only Hondas and Toyotas can last until 200K miles. Oops guess they have no clue what they are talking about again and should stick to testing toasters and appliances.
Who said that there are geniuses at CR? The real geniuses are the engineers that designed and built the Volt!!!
Article likely meant 4 years not 4 months
He’s now at 300K miles, 105K on wall power! Impressive. I know I can trust a used Volt, that’s for sure.
