Holden Racing Team Goes Retro With Brock Inspired Livery

Sometimes we turn a blind eye to other cultures and their legends. We become engrossed in domestic activities, and forget there are legends all around us, from all over the world. Peter Brock is one of them, also known simply as Brocky to the Australian public.
Brock was one of the greatest drivers to ever race the V8 Supercars series, with countless wins and podium finishes, mostly associated with Holden. In 1997, the legend announced it would be his last full-time racing series, marking the end of an era for V8 Supercars. His livery on the 1997 VS Holden Commodore would be etched into minds as one of the most memorable designs to be.
Now, as the Holden Racing Team celebrates their 25th anniversary, they’re paying homage to Brock and getting retro with it. HRT has unveiled their latest throwback livery inspired by the same Mobil 1 outfitting worn by the 1997 VS Commodore, piloted by Brock.
V8 champs Garth Tander and James Courtney will pilot the livery at the Townsville 400, even wearing an “02” marking, celebrating the cherished “05” number Brock raced. HRT has provided a video detailing how the livery came to life, which you can watch right down below.
Peter Brock would be losing his shit over the closure of Holden if he was still alive and this attempt at invoking his name to raise interest in a sport that we are losing interest in for obvious reasons does not sit well with me. Let the great 05 rest in peace you marketing hacks.
The only driver qualified to drive a Brock tribute car is Craig Lowndes.. No one else!!
