GMC Aims For Precision With Sierra Trucks At Calgary Stampede

In certain ways, Alberta is a bit like the Southern U.S. There’s plenty of guns and hunting to be had and almost everybody drives some type of domestic pickup.

On that note, GMC sure wasn’t going to miss the Calgary Stampede, the annual rodeo and exhibition that brings together thousands of truck-lovin’, cow boys and girls from across the province.

The company spent over a month rigging up the GMC Proshot, a new version of the classic midway water gun game that features GMC Sierras mounted on hydraulic lifts. But instead of trying to hit the target to burst a balloon, Proshot competitors try to hit the target in order lift the Sierra 1500 Denali as high as they can.

The clever point-and-shoot contraption also helps GMC hammer home its new ‘Precision’ ad campaign– only the most precise shooters will be able to perfectly aim the stream and lift the truck all the way to the top. Or something like that.

Similarly, the company also drops the “P” word three times in the spot, which last less than a minute. Sure, it’s probably a little gratuitous, but you definitely can’t fault GMC for staying on point.

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.
