Footage Of The Guy Sawing His Opel Corsa In Half Was Fake: Video

A few days ago the Internets positively buzzed with the story of a German guy who apparently cut all of his possessions in half due a messy divorce. He’d taken the “I get half, you get half” concept to the extreme and it seemed so unreal yet somehow plausible that, like the smoking baby video we all know and love, we were cautiously optimistic that it was authentic.

There was even a video, which we’ve included below, that showed the guy sawing up his tv, chairs, an iPhone 5…even his Opel Corsa!

But, alas, it was all a marketing stunt from a German website that helps people find lawyers.

Sure, it’s an odd tact to take, but when news aggregates like Gizmodo, Reddit, and TIME all pick up the alleged tale, you can pretty much guarantee the marketing team behind the forgery will be flooded with offers due to their incredibly convincing and captivating marketing efforts.

The whole “sawzall everything!” video might be fake but, hey, at least we know the smoking baby video was real. And that’s all we really need anyways, isn’t it?

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.
