Ad Break: Buzzfeed Partners With Chevrolet To Market Trax In Blogs And On YouTube

Chevrolet recently partnered with Buzzfeed in a bid to get more eyes on the 2015 Chevrolet Trax, which arrived in the U.S. earlier this year.

Buzzfeed, now synonymous with the ‘listicle’– small articles broken down into easily digestible, numerical chunks — has so far woven the Trax into more than a dozen of its stories.

If you’ve read, 16 reasons Lake Michigan has the best beaches in the country or 11 animals that could totally survive the windy city, you’ve been subjected to the sly, nearly imperceptible marketing of the Gamma II-based subcompact crossover.

And now, a new collaborate YouTube video titled Buzzfeed and Trax Presents: LA Ultimate Selfie sees Buzzfeeders head out in the Trax to find, well, the best spot in the city for a selfie.

If you’re a Luddite, like yours truly, it’s a slightly cringe-worthy attempt at connecting with the selfie generation, but credit to Chevrolet for drawing attention to its new in-car 4G LTE-based Wi-Fi hotspot.

Check out the video and then let us know if you think the Buzzfeed/Chevrolet collaboration has hit the mark… or if it hasn’t.

    1. Ten things wrong with this ad —

      1. It’s less about the Trax and more about the morons inside it.
      2. The morons decide to go to a cool overlook… and instead overlook themselves.
      3. The morons are all white… which isn’t typically ‘a thing’ in LA.
      4. The moron that pulls out a selfie stick and goes ‘Whaaaaaaaaat?’ is also a douche.
      5. It’s a really funny ad. If you think supermarket bags are hilarious.
      6. The ad music is really rad… said nobody ever.
      7. It’s not exactly clear that the car offers Wifi. If it is, every last person that age in LA already has data on their phone.
      8. If you’re going to make it all about selfies, why aren’t the youngins’ hotter?
      9. Every last girl in LA who lives for selfies would describe that girl as ‘fat’.
      10. Ad suggests young people live and die by followers… instead of what they drive.
