2016 Corvette Z06 B92 Carbon Fiber Hood: Hot or Not?

We won’t lie, we’re all about the B92 RPO hood. We’d have to agree with CorvetteBlogger in saying that the carbon fiber looks fantastic on a Torch Red or Arctic White Chevrolet C7 Corvette. But we were wondering if our strong appreciation for the hood is simply infatuation or if we actually have good taste, so we’re asking you.

If everyone loved the B92 hood as much as we did, we like to think that it wouldn’t be a nearly $2,000 option, it’d be standard. However, there’s such a demand that a recent constraint report shows that the B92 hood option is unavailable for four very popular Corvette colors – Black, Torch Red, Shark Gray, and Arctic White. So maybe it’s a supplier issue over anything else.

Regardless, we want to know if the B92 is all that we perceive it to be, or is it a “fanboy accessory?” That is, is it hot, or not?

  1. If it sells cars go for it.

  2. GM needs to upgrade with engine power and not just cosmetics. I admire Nissan, Lamborghini and others who up the horse-power of their cars, in order to remain competitive. The Z06 C7.R package, should have never been offered unless that car could come with an extra 50 horsepower to make the car a little more competitive and faster overall.

    1. More competitive than the fastest front engine, rear drive car out there? Are you crazy?

    2. More power doesn’t always mean, “More competitive”. In a test comparing the Z06 vs the Nismo GT-R, the Z06 had 50 more horsepower, and it still got smashed on. Plus, there’s been reports of slow down issues with the Z06. I agree, these cosmetic upgrade packages Chevy throws out just to give your typical middle aged Corvette jokey something to brag about, is getting quite redundant. But piling power on top of power isn’t going to help the case either. What GM needs to do is refine this engine. Find out the problems this car is having, resulting the slow down issue. And do some suspension tweaking, and refinement. Then bring the car back to the playing field.

Because right now, the Z06 is getting rep of being overly hyped, but not executing it’s promises properly. This C7.R edition is just a little bit glitter to impress, a few knuckle heads. I agree with that.

  3. While I don’t agree that they need a ton more power I do agree they should offer a few less decal package editions and add a few more HP just to make it interesting. It really means little in over all performance but it would give the guys who pony up the extra bucks to claim a little more HP.

That is something GM does I really hate is they offer so many different special editions that are generally and mostly trim. Please add some real performance advantaged be HP or even full time AWD in some models like a Denali GMC package.

I mean cars like the Hot Wheels Camaro and others are cool but give them a mechanical advantage some where too.

In the past you could order a COPO model and it really meant something. How about a Corvette tuned or set up so you can track time or autocross it. People now go to the aftermarket for this make a factory option here.
