2016 Chevrolet SS Order Guide Confirms New Exterior Color

It’s the end of the line for a special car. We’ve already detailed what a missed opportunity the 2015 Chevrolet SS is in the United States, but we’re not here to talk about that today. Instead, we’ve gotten a look at the 2016 Chevrolet SS order guide, and there’s a new color for the 2016 SS on its way.

Slipstream Blue is currently being worn on a few 2015 VF Holden Commodore test vehicles across Oz, and the order guide lists the color as a new option for the 2016 Chevy SS. Slipstream is a darker, more “true blue” than “Perfect Blue,” which is currently the color offered in the blue family of hues. The document does not list Perfect Blue as an option for 2016, at least for fleets, but it would seem silly to offer two blues on such a niche car in the U.S.

The 2016 Chevrolet SS is also poised for refreshed looks up front, as the 2016 Commodore Series II has already been spied alongside a prototype wearing the bowtie. We’re still holding out for a more hardcore Chevrolet SS package here in the U.S., possibly via HSV, before the car is sent to the vast automotive graveyard.

Photos of the color have been posted to a global Holden fan page, which may be found here. Let us know in the comments if you are digging Slipstream Blue, or if Perfect Blue was a better match for the Chevrolet SS/VF Commodore duo.

  1. The US continues to appreciate against the Australian dollar — vehicles like this should be getting cheaper. With the emphasis on performance — i.e., Charger/Challenger Hellcat as one example — GM needs to be very aggressive with pricing and incentives to get dealers to stock and sell.

I doubt that many have this vehicle on their consideration list — GM should have some research on this — time for a re-launch with a new price and advertising to get it out there.

  2. This would be a hell of a seller if it were more competitive with the Charger and if Chevrolet would let something have more power than a base model Corvette.

  3. Looks the same as one of the colours available on early VEs, and Perfect Blue was more of a hark back to the VK SS Group A production car run (they were all a similar colour which was developed by HDT specifically for the Group A version).

  4. Nice, looks like the Impulse Blue on my 2006 GTO

  5. I’m ready for a different car, so went and drove a ’15 SS a few weeks ago. I was impressed with the car, very responsive overall, drives smaller and lighter than it is. I tried the MRC in “tour” and “sport”, there is a noticeable difference in the firmness of the ride. I was impressed with the ventilated seats, better than expected. I have no doubt this car would work very well as a daily driver. I’m ready to “sign-up”, but need to find the right deal? As much as I am sold on the car, still feel like $50K is too much. Probably will wait for a lightly used ’15 at $40-42K.

  6. I am sold with the SS. Just want to know when GM start taking order for the 2016. I read weeks ago that it will be August 6, 2015. Anyone knows if this is official? Thanks

  8. How about some new interior colours other grey or black sick of it. how about some softer colours beiges, saddle or tan, they do make other colours but not for Australia, we don’t matter.
