While rumors have swirled since the unveiling of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, we have a set date for when you will able to sign on the dotted line for your very own sixth-generation Camaro.
CamaroNews.com has received an official document stating orders will be accepted for the 2016 Camaro starting on August 13, 2015. This comes after an anonymous source tipped the site stating production would begin on that date. But now, it seems set in stone.
While a production date is still unconfirmed, the source has slipped the date of August 22, 2015 for when the Lansing Grand River plant will begin churning out the 2016 Camaro. Though, an August production date seems awfully soon, since the current-generation Camaro will be produced until November.
General Motors has not officially commented on the matter, nor has their been a true official word from GM on order and production dates. But, according to the document provided, August 13 will indeed be the day.
General Motors has invested $175 million into the Lansing Grand River plant to bring 2016 Camaro production to Michigan, leaving Canada after fifth-generation Camaro production ends.

The document clearly shows that production of the 2016 Camaro will begin in Q4 of 2015, which begins in October. Additionally, the only official word from GM on when it will available at the dealerships is “late Fall”, which would mean sometime in November.
I can see orders being taken on the August 13, because of a big sales hit that could happen. So I think it’s a matter of getting ready for the orders is my guess. But as far as shipping them out, I wouldn’t expect the car to be shipped until mid October to early November.
Hey Sean – are you a High School graduate? If so, you should know that in your sentence “…nor has their been a true official word from GM”, the word is THERE. Not THEIR. You are writing for a internationally distributed newsletter. Try to use correct grammar (and don’t blame it on spell-check).
hey Jim, why are you downing sean just because he used the wrong word when he wrote the article. Nobody in this world is perfect so don’t act like you’re some perfect teacher that you are going make a federal case out of some word. Give the man a break and leave him alone because I am sure many of us including me have used the wrong word in sentences so do not act like you are perfect because you are not.
Jim – “an internationally distributed” not “a internationally distributed. #dropsmic
One assumes some dealers are likely to come up with some fees or other to BS to be able charge early factory orders over MSRP?
