2015 Holden Colorado Z71 Is ‘Tough, Scrubbed Up’: Ad Break

Welcome to another edition of “Ad Break.” Today, we have Holden’s latest advertisement for the newly-introduced 2015 Colorado Z71. The 2015 Colorado Z71 takes the spot of the range-topping ute option for the Colorado lineup, and Holden wants consumers to know it’s not that easy to take the “tough” out of the Z71.
The 2015 Colorado Z71 begins life as an LTZ trim 4×4 model, and rugged stylistic upgrades are provided to portray the truck’s unmatched towing capability.
To highlight that, Holden has produced this clever spot. We see a male driver, who has clearly forgotten about a formal occasion. Making matters worse, his 2015 Colorado Z71 is a mess, covered with mud and debris.
As he pulls into the wash to drive the muck away, we see him gussy up just as the truck is. Upon arriving at the event, everything looks pristine, including the lovely lady at his side. But, as the valet sees, his dress shoes leave mud marks on the red carpet. A subtle nudge to say the 2015 Colorado Z71 is ready for anything thrown its way, formal, or quite informal.
The 2015 Colorado has been one of the more well received products within Holden’s lineup, and the ad should find love amongst consumers, playing with wit and not too much humor for a wider audiences’ taste. We think it’s well done.
