1987 Pontiac Mera Will Have You Fooling Everyone: Craigslist Find

It’s pretty well known the Pontiac Fiero is often mistaken for some sort of Ferrari by folks who don’t eat, sleep and breathe cars. Those who do have a clue, though, know the Fiero may have on-paper specs like a Ferrari, but everything else is far from one.

But, once upon a time, the most factory looking Ferrari replica was being sold through Pontiac dealers. That was the Pontiac Mera. And a 1987 Pontiac Mera can be yours for the taking, as we’ve found on Craigslist.

The Mera was an option for Pontiac Fiero GTs in 1987 and 1988, with only 247 of them built before Maranello called and ordered GM to cease production. The 1987 Pontiac Mera is a near mirror image of a Ferrari 308 and, as stated, not many would even know the difference.

The seller says the 2.8-liter V6 runs well, and the automatic transmission still shifts smoothly with only 41,324 miles on the odometer. It may not be super special, but the car is special. Especially for the devout Fierro crowd that still exists to this day.

And for $11,950, you can fool nearly anyone. Check out the listing here.

  1. Fiero was one of my favorite cars growing up.
To bad today’s GM can’t come up with a modern, high quality version. Both Buick and Opel need something exotic and unique.
