The vehicle you’re looking at above is a monster of a Cadillac De Ville, and it’s hiding something quite unorthodox under its rusted-out hood. Pop the release and you’ll find a Cummins Turbo diesel that’s also strapped with a supercharger for good measure. Yup, you’re lookin’ at a twin-charged De Ville. Did we mention it has a diesel?
The video doesn’t tell us much but someone that sounds like the owner explains that he removed three inches out of each of the pillars, lowering the overall height of the roof, in typical rat rod fashion.
The owner also explains how he ground all the paint off, which gives the husky war machine a real Mad Max look. Seriously, this car would not look out of place beside Buggy #9 or the Peacemaker.
The whole car is packed with delightfully ludicrous details like the gear-shifter, which is topped with a Bud Light draught beer tap handle. Likewise, we love how the engine is miles away from clearing the hood, so the driver just binned it all together.
But our favourite detail has to be the custom-made side pipes that grace the right hand side of the car. Totally unnecessary yet it fits the overall look perfectly.
It’s the kind of car that took some seriously creative thinking and we have to disagree with many of the YouTube commenters who cry foul over such a bizarre creation. We say this kind of outside-the-box thinking should be celebrated for what it is– insanely ridiculously awesome.
Which leaves us with a hypothetical: Should the rapture arrive, do you hop in the buzzsaw-baddassery that is this Cadillac De Ville? Or do you retreat to something a little more sheltered, like the Ripsaw EV2? Decisions, decisions.
The crazy Cadillac was recently spotted at Katie’s Cars & Coffee in VA, have a look below.
