This Corvette ZR1 Owner Has No Idea What He’s Doing

This is one of those races where, if you were on the sidelines, you already know the outcome. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 versus a BMW X5M? Puh-leeease…
But that’s not exactly how it went down. First of all, the Corvette isn’t up against a “regular” X5M– which boasts a respectable 575 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Instead, this berserk Beemer is fitted with a performance package from Evotech. While we aren’t privy to what that entails, exactly, it’s safe to say this improved X5 now packs a healthy wallop of extra power.
Meanwhile, the ZR1 makes due with its standard output. Then again, with a 6.2L supercharged LS9 V8 and 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque on tap, The C6 ZR1 is hardly handicapped. Mechanically, anyways.
From what we can tell the Corvette owner has no idea was he’s doing because, spoiler alert, he gets absolutely dusted by the X5M. Even if this particular M-powered Bee Em does pack an extra 200 hp, the ZR1 and its aluminum chassis should still hold its own. Maybe somebody should tip him on performance driving school.
