Like your first kiss, your first love, or your first (legal) night on the town, there’s something inherently special about your first car. It may not have been very fast or all that special to others but it probably wouldn’t be a gamble to say many of you (and us) still have fond memories of your first ride, even if it was a decrepit junk yard scrapper.
However, most seem to part ways with their first car. Whether it be a subconscious way of moving on or simply an upgrade into something new, it seems many “my first” cars have either bitten the dust or were simply sold. And that’s part of what makes this Camaro convertible so special.
“I bought it in 1974, it was my first car, I drove it in high school,” the owner mentions in the video below. “I always wanted a blower on it and after 40-years I’ve finally got a blower on it now.” Amen.
The owner had to chuck the hood because his Camaro now packs a massive supercharger (running 7 lbs of boost) that sits atop a 509 ci (8.3 liters) heart. All told, this Camaro convertible makes 1,000 hp and runs the quarter mile in the mid-to-high 8’s– all while being street legal.
While we love the fact the owner chose to drag a 1,000 hp drop-top, the license plate on this Camaro has to be our favorite part, which reads: “My 401K.” Savings mean nothing when you’re six-feet under, so why not use your nest egg to have some fun while your still alive?
Then again, your grandchildren might not be too happy about that… unless you will them the Camaro, of course.
