The 83rd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans won’t kick off until this Saturday, however drivers have been in Le Mans, France since late May completing tests and shakedown laps ahead of the big day. That includes Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin, who recently made some room in his schedule to walk the track with the official 24 Hours of Le Mans YouTube channel.
Ollie’s first outing to Le Mans was back in 2001 when the Briton still drove for Saleen-Allen Speedlab in a Saleen S7-R. That year had treacherous weather, Ollie says, which pooled up on Terte Rouge and down the Mulsanne Straight, making it especially hard to keep control of the car through the section.
We’re hoping for a rain-free 24 hours when the race kicks off this Saturday, but if the inclement weather does move in, Ollie and the rest of the Corvette Racing guys have no shortage of experience in such scenarios. Check out the video below for more of Ollie’s race experienes, and don’t forget to cheer Corvette Racing on when the most important endurance race of the year goes green.
