GM China Sells 1.47 Million Vehicles During First Five Months Of 2015

General Motors and its Chinese joint ventures had record sales of 1,472,186 vehicles during the first five months of 2015, up 5.1 percent on an annual basis.

Shanghai GM

Despite a negative growth trend, sales at Shanghai GM — The General’s primary joint venture responsible for Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac — rose 3.0 percent to 660,270 units. The results set a record for the period.

SAIC-GM-Wulng

Domestic sales at SAIC-GM-Wuling grew 10.4 percent to 809,657 units, also setting a record for the period.

  1. GM needs to export Chinese business practices back to Opel and Chevrolet.
    GM has yet to damage it’s Chinese reputation, as was the case with the cost cutting low quality era during the 1990s and early 2000s; however, I also like how Buick, for example, will sell multiple generations of Excelle, for example, and is adding the Verano Wei Lang, too.
    The C segment is hot, globally, and maybe Opel should consider a low cost last Generation Astra or Cruze positioned along with Karl. The 2015 Cruze would fit nicely in Europe with a little body work.
