As rumored, General Motors Company and Isuzu Motors have officially announced an agreement for medium duty commercial vehicle collaboration for the United States.
The agreement will result in Isuzu producing Chevrolet-branded low cab forward medium duty trucks for GM based off the Isuzu N-Series. The vehicles will be distributed by participating Chevrolet dealers in the U.S. market starting in 2016.
Primarily, the partnership allows Isuzu to strengthen its product lineup and GM to expand its commercial vehicle portfolio.
In addition, GM and Isuzu will explore the use of GM commercial vehicle components for Isuzu low cab forward trucks and GM will continue to produce and supply the 6.0L V8 L96Â gasoline engine and six-speed transmission for Isuzu gasoline-powered low cab forward trucks.
The collaboration between Isuzu and GM is part of a strategic partnership that, for more than 40 years, has been “producing collaborative business opportunities throughout the world”. This agreement “continues that tradition and reinforces a long-term relationship that helps to explore future collaborations in the U.S. commercial vehicle business”, according to a press release from both automakers.

Hopefully this will extend to Europe so that Vauxhall – Opel can expand their commercial vehicle line up, there is a market for medium trucks that GM in Europe has not been represented in since the demise of Bedford Trucks in 1987.
They need to retire the 6.0 L engine already.
Edgardo Roman I can only assume that you have never owned a GM Truck with the 6.0 engine in it cause if you did you definitely wouldn’t be suggesting that GM should retire it!
Can’t they fit a high-output variant of the 6.6 Dmax under the cab somehow?
