Corvette Stingray Built By Cordes Performance Has C7 Z06-Like Numbers

It’s safe to say the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray provides more than enough power for most applications, but we’ve just stumbled across a tasty upgrade from Cordes Performance Racing that is sure to get plenty of tuning enthusiasts hot under the collar.

Our object of today’s affection is a noticeably potent upgrade for Stingray’s equipped with the Z51 performance package. With some Cordes tuning, the Stingray sees its power rise from 460 hp, all the way to 635 hp and a very stout 537 lb-ft of torque. This brings what started as a stock Stingray just fifteen ponies shy of the mighty 2015 Corvette Z06.

It seems the folks over at Cordes took a page out of the Z06’s book as they too have fitted the sixth-generation Corvette with a supercharger (courtesy of East Coast Supercharging) in order to extract more power. Pop the hood an you’ll also find new headers and a new methanol injection system.

Yes, that much of a horsepower upgrade can be overwhelming to some. However, along with your extra power you also get the Cordes pledge of drivability, which is pretty much the company’s way of saying they didn’t just raise the power to grab headlines – it also steers.

Whether that’s true or not– or whether there are further upgrades that would actually address the issue of drivability– we can’t say for sure, but we can tell you that Cordes will also sprinkle its magic dust over a number of different makes and models: C5 and C6 era Corvettes, Camaros, Cadillac CTS-Vs, Dodge Vipers, Ford Mustangs, pickups and more, are all eligible for the treatment. Other packages for the Stingray are also available.

Take a brief (as in 15-seconds brief) look at the video below to hear the Stingray Corvette built by Cordes Performance Racing do its thing.

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.

  1. Wtf!? This article says Cordes Performance tuned C7 Z51 at 635hp is 5ponies shy of the ’15 Z06! Unless 3ponies equals 1horse, That’s HORRIBLE math!!!!! LMAO

  2. Also, Cordes’ numbers are at the rear wheels while the C7 Z06 is at the flywheel. This puts Cordes far ahead of the Z06.
