Earlier this week Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin shared some insights on Circuit de La Sarthe and his past experiences at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ollie is one of the most experience drivers at Le Mans, along with fellow Corvette Racing driver Jan Magnussen, who’s participated in the endurance special 17 times.
Magnussen also had a chat with the official 24 Hours of Le Mans YouTube channel and gave his opinion on the circuit’s legendary Mulsanne straight. According to Jan, the back stretch is a place where drivers can check their gauges and systems and take a quick breather before braking for Mulsanne Corner. Despite this, it can still be a tricky part of the 8.47 mile track, as evidence by the major accident which took place on it last year.
The clock is ticking for the start of the 24 Hour of Le Mans, with the race set to go green at 9 a.m. ET this Saturday. The trio of Magnussen, Ryan Briscoe and Antonio Garcia may make history in the race after winning the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring earlier this year. If they can win this weekend, they will be the first trio since 2000 to win all three races in the same season.
Listen to Magnussen’s remarks in the video below, and don’t forget to check Fox Sports’ Le Mans coverage schedule so you can follow his progress.
