And Now, The Story Of A 1957 Chevrolet Pickup Truck: Video

Earlier this year, General Motors celebrated a major milestone in the company’s history. In May, GM was proud to announce 500 million vehicles built throughout its long history of current, and few now retired brands.

But today, Chevrolet has provided a video highlighting merely one of those over 500 million vehicles. Bob Sportel purchased his 1957 Chevrolet pickup in 1976 for an absurdly low $75 by today’s standards. At the time, he was worried he may have overpaid for the 1957 Chevrolet pickup.

It turns out the amount of memories made with the truck would in turn become priceless after his $75 came and went.

The truck itself, although a little beaten and worn, still runs after 58 years, with 38 of those years under Sportel’s ownership. The Sportel family says it has been through more than anyone can imagine, including its service as a prom vehicle for Sportel’s daughter.

Now, the family wonders if the 1957 Chevrolet truck will end up outlasting themselves, as they take viewers through a little history in the accompanying video below.

Maybe it is true what they say, they just don’t make ’em like they used to.
