Meet the 2016 Holden Colorado Z71. The new trail boss sits atop Holden’s Colorado range as the ultimate lifestyle truck. Holden says it identified key desires of Colorado buyers, and feels that the introduction of the 2016 Colorado Z71 will meet each of them accordingly.
The 2016 Colorado Z71 starts life as the (International-market)Â Colorado LTZ 4×4 crew-cab. From there, the trucks’ unmatched 3.5-ton towing capability receives stylistic upgrades to portray what the truck is capable of. 18-inch Arsenal Grey (gun metal) alloy wheels, sail plane and styled nudge bar, as well as a selection of blacked-out content elevate the rugged looks of the 2016 Colorado Z71.
Holden says Colorado buyers yearn for the ultimate lifestyle vehicle, complete with capable performance, and aggressive looks.
“Drivers are increasingly using trucks to facilitate an active lifestyle, whether it’s surfing or snowboarding, and looking good is important to them,” said Peter Keley, Holden’s executive director.
“Z71 adds an impressive range of features to the Colorado truck, not least the exterior black components and leather-appointed seats that combine to give a more aggressive look and comfortable ride.”
Inside, the interior receives a few more creature comforts. The seats aren’t only wrapped in leather, but they’re heated now, too. The standalone feature joins the already well-equipped trim that includes the Chevrolet-Holden MyLink, a rearview camera and a seven-inch color touchscreen.
Those attending game two of the Holden State of Origin series on June 17th will be able to see the new Holden Colorado Z71 in person for the first time, along with the Colorado virtual test drive.
Holden says the 2016 Colorado Z71 will reach dealerships in the beginning of July.

Ford Australia and their designed and engineered Ranger is the closest we’ll get to the luxury of the North American Trucks. Holden has added Z71 to try and stay in the game. Mitsubishi’s new Triton won’t cut it. New Nissan Navara is good but will trail the Ranger. Toyota Hilux can only survive on reputation for so long. GM need to get the North American Colorado to Australia ASAP or at least let Holden redesign the global model and let them design something that doesn’t completely look commercial.
Isuzu DMax and MUX are killing the similar Holden products. GMH needs to bring a better effort to the game. Besides Commodore nothing much to keep the buying public interested!
Outside of Commodore, Cruze and Colorado, nothing sells well enough for Holden. A salesman told me that virtually all imported stock besides Colorado are “dead on arrival”. Colorado only sells because the truck market is small but GM can’t afford to be the lower selling truck.
