2016 Chevrolet Cruze Interior Teased In Apple CarPlay Feature Video

Chevrolet has highlighted the upcoming features for Apple CarPlay support in Chevrolet vehicles, but didn’t use any Chevrolet model. In the process, they chose to highlight the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and its completely redesigned interior.

The video is a silent b-roll film of what Apple CarPlay will be capable of, and with only two days until the 2016 Cruze’s reveal, Chevrolet isn’t being coy about what we’re seeing now. We first get a good look at the redesigned steering wheel in the 2016 Cruze, and a few good shots of the gauge cluster, which features two analog gauges and a screen in-between for driver information vitals.

Our eyes are then drawn to the center stack, which is housed in glossy piano-black material. The button layout seems to be simple, and less cluttered than before. And there’s the massive touch-screen that gets plenty of camera time as we’re shown how intuitive Apple CarPlay is.

The quick video is over in a flash, but we won’t have to wait long to see more of the new interior gracing the 2016 Cruze. Have a look at it yourself down below.

  1. The body of the 2016 North American Cruze is totally unique vs. the Asian version. The interior appears exactly
the same as the overseas model. This was to be expected. What’s interesting to me is that while the Cruze
will settle into a lower pricepoint than it’s platform mate, the Volt – The Cruze’s interior looks a notch higher
in materials and quality. For me, it’s the soft-touch look of the dash and the stitching. Volt looks more plasticky
which kills sales to the general public. I’ll buy a Volt for what it can do – but the soft-touch/stitching is a must,
I think – in a car that will move out the door in the mid – $thirties.

Big question: There surely will be a diesel version of the Cruze. Will there be a hybrid version, like Malibu and
CT-6? While I hope so – that would definitely cut into Volt sales.

  3. For those that haven’t seen the 2016 Cruze yet – hold onto your chairs! This is going to be a big seller for GM.

It’s sharp looking and has that quality feel to it. It makes Corolla look obsolete.

  5. I expect no expensive hybrid here with the Volt and Bolt in the works. This car will be sub 3000 pounds and will get great MPG on it’s own. The key to this car is price as this is the car people opt for if they can not afford the mid size. Value for the dollar is king here as MPG is Queen.

The Diesel will be interesting as it would again be expensive and all those who said we needed it never bought one. Sales were disappointing and the government regulation are only getting tougher.

I do expect this car and the Bu both to be in the top two in sales for their segment in the next two years.

  6. GM Authority staff writer obsession with Apple… Apple fanboys, perhaps?

Should have also mentioned it uses Google Android too…80% of the world uses Google. Sorry, Apple fanboys…reality of what is more important to GM globally.

    1. Ohno,

Not a fanboy in the slightest. The only reason I omitted Android Auto here is because the video focused on Apple CarPlay in particular.

      Cheers,

      Sean

  7. When this was first teased I posted that the interior was looking like it was the same as the Chinese version. Upon saying that I will also add that I think it looks pretty good and a bit more upscale in appearance and material/quality maybe.
