Cadillac announced today its much needed do-over in the luxury-crossover segment will be arriving next year. Early next year, that is.
Many publications speculated, and nearly confirmed, a 2015 NYIAS debut, but we quickly deduced that as out of the question, leaving the limelight all for the 2016 Cadillac CT6. Now, with this new information, it may be safe to say a 2015 Los Angels Auto Show debut is much more plausible. If not, a 2016 North American International Auto Show debut is nearly certain, depending on how “early” the phrase “early 2016” means.
The 2016 Cadillac XT5 will ditch General Motors’ Lambda platform for the all-new C1XX underpinnings, which may even support two different wheelbase options. Expect the latest LGX 3.6-liter V6 to be offered alongside front- and all-wheel drive flavors, while a plug-in hybrid variant is rumored to join the lineup after the crossover’s launch.
It remains to be seen what cues the 2015 XT5 will take in the styling department. A baby-brother Escalade route is possible, but the fresh-faced CT6 design may also play an important part.
The 2015 Cadillac XT5 will be one of many incoming Cadillac models to be launched by the year 2020.

Maybe an unveiling in September at Frankfurt
Unlikely since Cadillac is retracting from Europe and gearing up for a relaunch for 2020.
Please, GM – stop the “Art And Science” nonsense!
If other automakers can “Find New Roads” ( sorry ) in their design language, why not ditch
the tired sharp creases for some new shapes? You’ve dangled concepts in front of eyes that
seem to experiment away from the paper cut edginess. Now move on, as that was a good
signature look for a decade or so – but it’s time to move on. Give us a CUV that has style.
So glad to hear the PHEV version is coming. Leveraging Volt’s technology into hybrids
and PHEVs is a smart hedge against spiking gas prices and a very combustive Middle East.
Electric drive is luxury – plain and simple, no matter what De Nysschen says. No gas-powered
Lexus is as smooth as a car travelling solely on electrons. The sheer silent-running and
smoothness is above and beyond.
Cadillac has been softening the sharp creases of the original Art and Science design language and I expect that to continue.
I do agree that GM should leverage the Voltec technology and give Cadillac especially a PHEV or range extending electric version of all the models they produce.
That Art and Science nonsense makes Cadillac the most unique and distinguishable cars on the road. So unique, nobody has tried to copy it. Heck, in coming up with the design language, Cadillac hasn’t copied anything but itself, and for that, I give them props.
I really want to purchase next year if it is made and on the market a Cadillac 2 door hardtop convertible XLR. I have seen pictures but no mention of when or if they will ever be produced. Can you help me out here. Thank you.

Thank so much gmauthority kamera sistemi
the Cadillac styling is stale….everything looks too much the same.
Art and Science was once cool, edgy and unique. China hated it, they motif was softened and is now uber-boring and overly conservative.
The new Infinity styling about to debut looks like the evolution Art and Science should have taken with those deep creased character lines that look almost space aged.
The CT6 is a square box that looks 1990s. GM can never produce Aveair because it would upstage Cadillac.
Sad…
Well Gm was right in doing A&S but they also have learned that the styling needed to be refined. It has given them their own look but they needed to tone it to the mainstream more to appeal to a wider group of folks.
This is not unlike what the others have done as Audi was pretty radical when they chose their original design direction and they have refined it to better appeal to more. Even BMW and Benz have done similar with their designs over the year.
The original hard edged CTS set it apart but as with many radical designs it must evolve. The hard line design if left unable to evolve will age and look old.
I think they are now in a good spot with their design. But I would like to see the coming products evolve more from each other a little more. They should carry a family look but I would like to see more variation in the design per each mode. I like the styling but I would like to see the ATS, CTS and CT6 be more their own and not just large, medium and small version of each other. I expect we will see a little more of this in the future now they have different management and less driven by the board. We should see more liberties taken here.
hopefully the CT8 will have updated styling…more like the two concepts cars instead of the old wedged body style.
lexus is a piece of GARBAGE & so is its Parent company toyota
in some photos the CT6 looks a bit awkard with its wedged body….it looks sloped down which I find unattractive…. it look as if the rear wheels are bigger than the front wheels…I prefer a straight body….the 1990s Cadillac looks less awkard and wedged than the CT6.
I for one am glad that the current generation SRX’S lifespan is being shortened. Although it is the number one volume Cadillac it is getting a little long in the tooth especially again more recent luxury midsized crossovers.
The current SRX shares to much with it’s Chevrolet and GMC siblings.
So I say bring on the XT5 and thanks but good riddance to the SRX.
I owned an SRX for 3 1/2 years and truly loved it. Great car . I still check them out as I drive by them.
I traded it for aN ELR , which is a fantastic car, although sometimes we need a little more room for hauling things. It get the best mileage than any car I have ever owned. In the year I have owned it, I have only bought about $35.00 in fuel, including day trips I have taken. It is rated at 37 ELectric miles per charge, but gets over 50 miles per charge constantly.
Truly a fantastic car!
art and science… is just old and tired
Nice Good GM.
