Why CAR Magazine Says The 2015 Vauxhall Adam 1.0L Three-Cylinder Is The One To Get

Your lady friends might not agree, but sometimes smaller is better. Take the new Vauxhall (Opel) Adam and its 1.0L turbo three cylinder engine, for example.
The team across the pond at CAR magazine recently got a chance to test 2015 Vauxhall Adam with the new three-pot and they came away thoroughly impressed.
Actually, impressed doesn’t do it justice. CAR went so far as to say the new Adam “is finally the car it should have been all along,” labeling it “a fine little supermini.” And it all comes down to the new turbocharged engine.
First appearing in the quirky Adam Rocks, the tiny 1.0T (just 998 cc) spits out its full 113 hp at 5,200 rpm, but the big news is the torque delivery– all 125 lb-ft arrives at just 1,800 rpm.
This new wave of silky smooth torque “elevates the Adam from the status of victim to that of proper grown-up car.” It’s a refined and hushed powerplant, says CAR, and its credibility is further boosted by the fact that even those channeling their inner Dom Toretto will still see 40 mpg, according to the British magazine.
Okay, it still takes 9.9 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) and tops out at just 120 mph, but like many cars, the numbers may not tell the full story. And it never takes much for a little vehicle such as the Adam to put a smile on a face.
