The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will kick off this Friday when the first practice and qualifying sessions are held the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship, IndyCar Series and TRAXXAS Formula Off-Road Series are held. The races at Belle Isle are always exciting, but a nail-biter of a finfish in last year’s TUDOR race will make this year’s event hard to top.
As the series recaps in its pre-race video for Belle Isle, Wayne Taylor Racing was battling for the lead last year with Action Express Racing’s Joao Barbosa when they were pushed edged into the wall. Barbosa easily pulled into the lead, but a left rear tire puncture from the impact caused him to spin, allowing Ricky Taylor to reclaim first and take the win.
Check out TUDOR’s Belle Isle preview in the video below, and be sure to tune into FOX Sports 2 this Saturday at 12 p.m. for coverage of the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers. As you’ll see, Detroit has played host to more then one memorable TUDOR race before, so this weekend’s event shouldn’t disappoint.
