There will be quite a few treasures up for grabs at the upcoming Christie’s auction. Amongst these prized possessions, such as Mike Tyson’s boxing gloves and a Tommy Lee-signed snare drum, is an iconic vehicle that any one of us would love to showcase, the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am known to many as, KITT.
Most of you probably recognize the familiar KITT from the 1980’s TV series Knight Rider, starring famous actor David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight. The auction for KITT is associated with the Gumball 3000 Rally, which is going on right now.
The ’82 Firebird Trans Am, a long with a large portion of vehicles from back in the day, did not flaunt any impressive power numbers from the factory. In fact, the highest rated trim, the Trans Am, featured a 5.0L V8 that delivered 165 horsepower.
One could say that a large part of the Trans Am’s success stems from its popularity after being featured in this series, and now collectors will have a chance to own one of the most famous examples of them all.

Thanks to this Trans Am, I begin to love American cars.
But then my favourite was the ’87 GTA TPI T-tops.

Whoever desecrated the beautiful tail lights of this car should hang their head in shame !
The entire square shape of the tail light area lit up with the sawtooth lens is the signature look of a Trans Am.
Those ridiculous round circles make it look like another boring Jap import …
As an owner of a black Pontiac I really have learned to hate this show. I never watched it and I just hated everyone calling me Night Rider.
