The C7 Corvette Z06 is a tricky car to drive. With 650 horsepower on tap from its 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine, it’s probably best to leave the traction control on at all times unless you really know what you’re doing.
Everybody makes mistakes, so we don’t want to judge the owner of this Torch Red C7 Z06, but it seems as though he should’ve left his traction control on based on his driving experience. When trying to film his car accelerating, he shifted into second and gave it a bit too much gas, kicking out the rear end of the $80,000 supercar and sending it jetting towards a row of trees at a fairly high rate of speed.
To be honest, we feel pretty bad for this guy. His Z06 is probably totaled, and his pride likely didn’t come away from the accident unscathed either. From what we can gather, no one was hurt in the accident, which is really all that matters. I got my first speeding ticket ever in over 50 years of driving less than 30 seconds of picking up my 2015 Z06 2LZ. It was the first day i was allowed in it after purchasing it 4 days earlier. I pulled out shifted into 2nd went to shift into third and noticed i was already at 70mph. I immediatly let off the gas but a ny trooper already read me at 72. I tried to exlpain to him i just picked it up but would not give me a break. Yes i was speeding but i was not used to the peddle yet. Aftr i let off the gas i got used to it real fast. I did not mean to speed and would never had done that if team chevy owner or salesman or the head of sales of team chevy would have let me test drive the car 4 days earlier or any of the four days i waited for it. I made the mistake of letting my salesman drive it because he said he never drive one. I was able to take it up the road a few miles and let him drive it back to the lot and He passed two ny troopers just hours before i was able to take posetion of it and got away with doing over 120mph and i believe the trooper who got me believed i was driving it earlier and was the one who was speeding at 120. I believe they were just waiting to see that car leave the lot.
I am not making light of this expierience because i am not one to continually to break the law. It was just a new expierience with a new car i was not familiar with and was not allowed to drive it only a few miles and see how everything felt before i picked it up. I was literally sick all weekend and didnt even drive it Till monday. I picked it up friday afternoon. I am totally familiar with everything in the car now and have over 1000 miles on it and am happy i purchased it but not from team chevy. i have no trouble driving it now without speeding and am enjoying touring around in it. I do plan on taking it to watkin glen for a HPED OR HOD expierience just like i did last year with my C6 vette. That is the place to drive fast with these cars and not on public highways. It is fun just driving at speed limit and not putting other people in danger. This new 2015 Z06 is great.

hey all! the z06/z07 was mine and she wasn’t totaled!!! all front end , no engine damage!! about 22k in damage and insurance is picking up the tab.
also i know fast cars…. i have 07 z06 moded with 640hp, never had issues…. with the new z06 … all i can say is shit happens lol

Did you even attempt to counter steer and/or let up off the gas once it broke loose? Either or both of these would have kept the car on the road. I just expect the car to fishtail back and forth at least once while you try to get a handle on things. It looks like nothing was done to control the car.
