A Man Has Been Living Out Of His Geo Metro For 150,000 Miles

When you picture an off-roading machine, images of  lifted trucks, big tires and a tailgate full of tools come to mind. Not a Geo Metro. This man wasn’t off-roading a Geo Metro, though. He was living out of it when be became stuck.

Jalopnik came across this man, named Herrmann, hitchhiking along the Arizona highway. When they decided to pull over, he told them he had gotten stuck in the mud with his Geo Metro. But they had no idea he was using the little Geo as a campsite.

And no, this man isn’t some hobo either. He’s actually a bit of an enthusiast, loves psychology, art and humor too.

Herrmann says he’s been living out of the Geo for 150,000 miles. He picked the three-cylinder Metro up with 50,000 miles on the odometer, and it now reads 200,000. A modern day explorer at its finest, Herrmann sets up camp, including a miniature kitchen. Not a terrible way to stay off the grid if you ask us.

And you may be wondering what Herrmann does with himself when he’s not busy wandering the wide open spaces. Well, he actually has a blog, which you may find here. Some interesting stories come about when you live in a Geo Metro for 150,000 miles.

Herrmann said he was patiently waiting for the mud to dry up so he could be on his way to his next unknown destination. And so, he waited, and we’re sure by now Herrmann has found his latest destination.

There’s something seriously great about this, and we tip our hat to Herrman.
