In six days, we will have our first look at the highly-anticipated 2016 Chevrolet Camaro as it prepares to greet the masses at Belle Isle in Detroit. Fortunately, we’ve learned a few new details about the car before we see it live and in the sheetmetal.
According to Edmunds, a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro “visualizer” will go live this summer, presumably shortly after the car debuts. The visualizer will not be a full-blown configurator, but will offer customers a chance to explore the newfound customization options to debut on the new sports car.
“The visualizer won’t have pricing,” Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager, told Edmunds. “A configurator with full pricing will go live around the time that the cars are on sale in the late fall.”
Christensen also said new performance and cosmetic accessories are planned, along with new colors.
“We’re taking a page from what Camaro enthusiasts tell us,” Christensen said. “You’ve got to treat accessorization as a full-scale strategy and not an after-thought. They have to be well integrated when the car debuts.”
He said enthusiasts will be able to personalize the 2016 Camaro “inside and out, with some performance features as well.”
Speaking about colors, Christensen says a wide range of “bright and expressive colors to some very luxurious and subdued shades” will be present in the 2016 Camaro’s color palette, but says to not expect any throwback colors. Retro is not a priority this time around.
“There’s nothing about this car that’s retro.”
Finally, there will not be a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro convertible at the time of unveiling, though, Chevrolet spokesperson Monte Doran, says it will come eventually, with no further time table at the time of this writing. Over the last few months, Chevrolet has parsed out pieces of information about the new Camaro, such as the new Camaro emblem as well as several features such as a drive mode selector. But in six days, the time will finally come to see the real thing.

how can camaro copy mustang. what this mean or how they copy
I bet the Camaro is not going to have the hood turn signal lights. Thank God.
But Scott, How could a 6th gen Camaro owner know which way he’s signalling if it wasn’t indicated by lights on his cars hood?!
One thing the Camaro doesn’t need is a wing on the trunk lid. As a diehard Camaro fan and owner, 6 in all, the wing belongs on the mustang, challenger or some foreign car. Back in the first round of muscle car wars in the 60’s and 70’s Camaro had a deck lid spoiler. Mustangs, Firebirds, Cudas, Challengers and Road Runners, to name a few, sported wings. Take this option away. Please.
