When an automaker launches an all-new product, they pay close attention to the internet’s collective reaction. Chevrolet is probably smiling ear-to-ear right about now, with their all-new 2016 Camaro stirring up no shortage of commotion across the world’s social media platforms.
As Edmunds reports, if you search Chevrolet, Chevrolet Camaro, CamaroSix or #CamaroSix on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you will be looking at thousands of different photos, tweets and comments referencing the sixth-generation Camaro. In addition to this, the internet is rife with articles on the new car, which many consumers have left comments on discussing its Alpha platform, three new engines and impressive interior.
Chevy’s social media head Craig Daitch also confirmed to Edmunds the Camaro reveal was trending on Facebook at one point. Additionally, there have been tens of millions of ‘#camarosix’ related posts in Twitter, and the number of comments on a certain Camaro post on Facebook have run into the tens of millions.
We have a feeling the attention from interested consumers in the 2016 Camaro won’t shift until they can get their hands on the car and take it for a spin. In the meantime, they’ll have to look at photos, read reviews and leave comments on the internet to learn all they can about #camarosix.

Will they keep that blue on the Camaro in the picture?
Yes the blue stays.
I was rather disappointed in the media of this event. This time of years so much has everyone’s attention and it also rained at the event.
I think they could have garnered much more attention at the Detroit auto show or NYC. The world is watching those events and right now while it got decent attention I still feel they could have done better.
I agree, Scott. This seemed odd to me, too. It’s almost like they didn’t want it to be too heralded. Maybe they were afraid it would take most of the attention away from other Chevrolets and even Cadillacs??
Times have changed folks and the way to market cars is changing with it. Social media with the younger demographics can have a greater impact than the big shows. The availability of this car in quantity is still almost a year away and there is still time to create more buzz at the NAIAS in 2016. The main reason for this early reveal is to prevent defection to other brands with newer current products.
