Unique 2004 Buick Rainier GNX Prototype Only Nets Less Than $20,000 At Barret-Jackson

A one-of-one 2004 Buick Rainier GNX was unable to hit the twenty-thousand dollar mark at this most recent Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, and sold for the price of $19,250. The Rainier GNX SUV is a custom prototype vehicle, and features a supercharged V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission delivering power to all four wheels.

It’s not a stretch to say that the “showroom only” factor inhibited the Buick GNX (not that GNX) from bringing in a more significant sum of cash, being sold on a bill of sale only. Unfortunately, that means Rainier GNX is not road legal.

From another perspective, almost twenty grand isn’t too shabby for a piece of art that isn’t exactly the most sought after, and creates interesting conversation at the very least. Who knows, maybe the new owner will take the Buick Rainier GNX to the drag strip to see what it’s made of, as that’s certainly what we would do.

  1. The no title part kills this car as who would want it and what do you do with it?

The Only real option is to transfer the parts to a good chassis with a vin and even then not many people would have interest.

This was not exactly Duntovs test car or some significant show car like the X job here.

Neat car but what do you do with it since you can not drive it.
