This 500 HP LS-Powered BMW 7 Series Makes For A Brutish Bavarian Beauty

You’ve got to respect the guys and gals that spend countless hours on engine swaps. They bust their balls trying to cram huge engines into smaller engine bays and you have to admire their efforts, even if the end result isn’t to your liking.

Which brings us to this custom 2002 BMW 745i that sports a turbocharged 4.8L LS engine under its long hood.

The seller says “tons of hours” were spent building the car and we’re inclined to believe them. The engine transplant is insanely clean and everything fits perfectly under the hood.

For just $10,000 you’ll get a freshly rebuilt LS with a custom cam for boost, gapped rings and APR head bolts, 4L60-E transmission, and a custom 70mm turbo running 14 lbs. of boost. All this goodness means this E65 now kicks-out 500 hp at the rear wheels.

Inside, you get get a push-button shifter and a switch that controls exhaust cutoff, allowing the driver to swap from quiet mode (through full exhaust) to a louder mode (through an open downpipe) in an instant.

While we’re sure the seller will not get their money back in the sale, we have to tip our caps to those who shrug off doubt and ask: “well, why the hell not?”

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.
