Tadge Juechter, Chief Corvette Engineer, at one point called 2015 the year of the Zo6. The 2015 C7 Corvette Z06 that is. We now know why, because Chevrolet has reported 8,206 2015 C7 Z06s have been built through April 22nd.
Corvette Blogger reported the news on those very good numbers. The high production can mostly be attributed to the addition of an eight-speed automatic and the new convertible option for the C7 Z06.
Of those 8,206 2015 Z06s, 81 percent are coupes, and 19 percent are convertibles with the majority of buyers opting for the 3LZ trim package (75 percent). Those looking to up the 2015 Z06’s track capabilities have had no issue checking the optional Z07 performance package option either as 39 percent have chosen the package.
As one could guess, black has been the most popular exterior color for the 2015 Corvette Z06, with 18 percent of buyers choosing the color. Arctic White and Shark Gray hold second place, tied at 16 percent.
Corvette Blogger hands those of us at large some perspective advice to build a truly rare C7 Corvette Z06, though. Order your 2015 C7 Z06 in Night Race Blue with blue leather interior and you will stand with merely two percent of other C7 Z06 owners. It’s that rare.
Chevrolet has already detailed the incoming updates for the 2016 C7 Corvette model year, which sees new colors and design packages. Hopefully Chevrolet can keep the momentum moving with their latest budget supercar.
