As the pursuit for clean energy continues, Opel reminds us it is no stranger to alternative fuels. Besides its clean diesel options throughout the lineup, Opel has an extensive offering of compressed natural gas and liquified petroleum gas vehicles.
Last year, more than 26,000 consumers opted for CNG and LPG Opels. Opel has become the number brand to consider when looking at CNG and LPG options, with sales of these vehicles up 35 percent in the first few months of 2015.
Energy efficiency and CO2 reduction are extremely important for us throughout our portfolio,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales Opel Group. “Opel has a wide range of LPG and CNG vehicles and can offer real alternatives no matter what the requirements. The vehicles are not only eco-friendly; they are also especially economical and suitable for everyday use.”
Opel offers the largest portfolio of LPG models with 12 models. That includes the 2015 Opel Adam, 2015 Corsa, 2015 Astra, 2015 Insignia and 2015 Zafira. Each of these vehicle are powered by a 1.4-liter LPG ecoFLEX LPG engine with the capability of traveling up to 310 miles in the Insignia variant.
Buyers looking for CNG can also place their faith in Opel. The Opel Combo is available as both a passenger car and commercial vehicle. The Combo utilizes a 1.4-liter CNG Turbo ecoFLEX with 120 hp, and can travel up to 280 miles. CNG vehicles emit 25 percent less CO2, and natural gas, biogas or any mixture of both, are much cheaper than gasoline and diesel.
Opel also offers the Zafira Tourer with a 1.6-liter CNG turbocharged ecoFLEX engine with 150 hp.
Every CNG and LPG variant from Opel is developed in-house by the automaker, giving buyers a one stop shop for fuel efficiency. With added fuel savings, and a greener environment, Opel makes a compelling proposition with their extensive lineup of CNG and LPG vehicles.
GM could do itself some CAFE good by offering some Buick Adam CNG’s over here as a captive import program.
A >50 MPGe highway car on CNG would be a compelling fleet offering for Buick. Uber drivers would be snatching them up left and right.
Yeah, the article is good and also informative. As I Don’t know what the Opel but it’s sounding good. And also I think in India it is not yet launched. Thanks for sharing the article.
