French racing team Larbre Competition is representing the Corvette on a full-time basis in this year’s World Endurance Championship. Thanks to the factory-backed Corvette Racing team’s efforts at Le Mans, we know the C7.R is capable of racing with the competitive WEC field, however an unfortunate series of events in the season opener at Silverstone this past weekend saw the Larbre Corvette turn up seventh.
Larbre’s C7.R, driven by Gianluca Roda, Kristian Poulson and Paolo Ruberti, was the second quickest car in qualifying ahead of the 6 Hours of Silverstone. Things soon went south when the race started, however, with their Corvette making contact with the No. 30 Tequila Patron ESM HPD ARX-03b LMP2 car. Larbre was handed down a penalty for the incident and re-entered the race seven laps down.
Unable to recover from the deficit, Larbre turned up seventh in the GTE Am Class, eight laps down from the class winning No. 98 Aston Martin V8 Vantage of Mathias Lauda, Pedro Lamy and Paul Lana. The next race for Larbre and the C7.R in the WEC will be the 6 Hours of Spa on May 4.

I didn’t watch the race and it’s been really hard for me to find info on what exactly happened to the Larbre Corvette. Thank you for clarifying that it was a penalty that put them way down. Hopefully they do better at Spa.
