Chevrolet is set to debut the updated 2016 C7 Corvette at the upcoming National Corvette Museum Bash later this month, but if you’re feeling a bit impatient, Ohio Chevy dealer Coughlin Chevrolet has dug up some early info on the car through General Motors order guides.
Corvette Blogger first turned our attention towards Coughlin’s 2016 Corvette intel. According to the dealer, there will be a range of new body and interior colors, along with new colors for the convertible canvas roof. A new shade of yellow will replace the current Velocity Yellow shade, while a new red color called Addiction Red Tint Coat will also be on offer.
Convertible 2016 Corvettes will be offered with a Bastille Red canvas top or a Night Shadow Blue top. New colors for the interior include Spice Red and a new sueded black or sueded red option. Additionally, the Twilight Blue interior option will trickle down to standard cars from the C7 Z06 and the ability to choose either Red or Yellow stitching will return. As a side note, Coughlin believes some of these options will be part of a special edition package and may not be offered as standalone choices.
Other additional options for 2016 include two-tone seats, carbon flash and spectra grey exterior trim, a new full length Satin Black stripe, new wheel codes for both Stingray and Z06 models, and new exterior decals for the Z06. There’s also word of a carbon fiber hood option, however the C7 already has a carbon hood, leading Coughlin to wonder if an exposed carbon hood might be offered.
The most interesting nugget of info found lurking in the 2016 Corvette’s order guide was the brief mention of a C7.R Special Edition. It’s much too early to say what this might package might entail, however it will be exclusive to Z06 models. This could simply be a decal and color package, or (and we’re dreaming here) an even more track-focused Z06.
All should become clear once the 2016 C7 Corvette breaks cover at the NCM Bash.
Hopefully the c7.r edition is a c7r bodykit and wing as that would help with the cooling and fight against the ACR viper coming up in 2016
well the Corvette is my favorite sports car, but recently looking at all the stats on the C-7 and Z06, it is clear that performance wise there is a deficit. I indicated once already, that the Z06 is slower to 0-150 mph than the ZR-1the and plenty of other competitors.
I don’t give a damn how track ready it is, the Nissan GT-R shame this car on a particular track not long ago. In contrast the track proficient Porsche 918 is still blistering quick, and not just talking sub 11 1/4 mile runs, but all the way pass 180 mph.
Bottom line is, the Z06 have more power than the ZR-1, Lamborghini Hurrican, Viper and Ferrari 458 etc. It should be able to keep pace with these cars in a straight line, and last but not least, the blasted Z06 should a top speed above 205 mph. Its pathetic that GMs fastest car is a Cadillac CTS-V.
Holy shit GM engineers, Nissan is readying another GT-R and you ain’t beating the current one, then the next generation will easily shame this so called track ready Z06e anywhere as well.
Again, I am calling on GM to give us a sports edition Corvette that can regain the ground the Z06 has lost
Do you know what your talking about, because it looks like you don’t. First off motortrend test the 2015 Z06 and the Nismo GT-R around the track and the Z06 was out of alignment, they got it fixed and it best the GT-R. Another thing is do you know how massive the aerodynamics are for the Z06? How much downforce is being applied. If you would want it to go over 200 you just option it without all the aero kits.. It’s the same engine as the one used in cts-v. Track times show more about a car than straight speed I mean you can make any car go fast look at the charger/challenger.
Valiance, just go back under your bridge and comment on The Fool Who Shall Not Be Named’s anti-corvette blog. The C7 Z06 has already proven itself better on the track than the ZR1, and it’s numbers are better than cars costing 2+ times as much. Any engineer with half a brain can design a car that will only do straight-line speed. Real drivers respect aerodynamics, suspension, rear diff and other aspects which make a car scream through the turns like fighter jet blasting through a canyon while the Hellcats are so squirrelly you’d think they were racing to raid a bird feeder.
Oh by the way, anyone saw cars that do 200 mph plus on msn. Oops, no damn corvette C-7 at all! Well at least the CTS-V and the Hellcat represented Detroit. Yes my point exactly, The C-7 had a velocity deficit from day one. At least the ZR-1 is still a member of this club.
Sorry folks, in the comment above, I meant to say “have a top speed above.”
LOL So the C7 Z06 beats the ZR1 in HP, TQ, 0-60, 60-0, 1/4mile, Lat G, Figure8, even MPG, Interior Design & around similarly tested tracks as stated by GM “AND” for less money at that & yet you’re harping on the ONE thing the C7 Z06 can’t do better which is hit 200mph? LMAO!!!!! You should do stand-up
Don’t get me wrong, there certainly are several issues I have with the C7 Z06 that wish GM would’ve or is going to address but 200mph in regardless to the ZR1 certainly isn’t one of them! Had you mention that in regards to the C7 Z06 that it cuts power which the ZR1 doesn’t (you would’ve had an argument!)
Had you mentioned that with less HP, less TQ, less aggressive tires, & with only steel brakes the Viper TA (NOT EVEN the Viper TA 2.0 with the wing) was able to outpace hense regaining the lap record at Laguna Seca during MotorTrend test and that GM seems very hesitant to give MotorTrend a crack at regaining that record at THAT course where there’s NUMEROUS times to contrast with their rival Dodge instead of these various other tracks they’ve clocked the Z06 which can’t be compared to the Viper with THEN you’d have had an argument!
If you had brought up your disappointment in GM’s short sidedness to not have already installed a Rough Track setting which was also installed (although not yet available in production models) in the Retested Vette that spanked the Nismo avoiding that controversy in the first place! Also keeping in mind that the Viper TA that took back the record at Laguna Seca has a Rough & Smooth Track setting! Dodge had the foresight, why didn’t GM!? Had you mentioned that, THEN you’d have had an argument! LOL & these points are coming from a FAN of the Vette ijs lol
Not going 200+mph considering everything when hyping the ZR1 which it beats literally across the board is pretty weak bruh
Crystal Red Tint Coat is a current color. If you’re going to copy info from another website, make sure it is correct. Try Addiction Red Tint Coat. You need to change the name of your website to GM misinformation!
If they build it there are to few buyers to make it work. I have a new Z51 and it’s great. I have had or still have all the generations. c7 is so good and it affordable. The car is perfect lots of power and pure fun. Gm is on the right track we can take are cars to the track ANYONE can enjoy the car like never before. Let’s stay on plant earth with the pricing. I can’t belive they could improve on my C6 it was so cool. I hear talk about the seats. I put 75,000 miles on my C6 and loved the seats after 23 hours driving straight to florida it was like getting out of my SL55. Not sure what all the interior talk was all about. It worked well and easy to use and understand.i think most of the talkers comes from people that don’t know or spend more then a few hours in the car. Anyone who spends 100s of hours knows clearly C7 is off the charts. Now 4.4 is my best time and I am not sure how to get to 3.7 I guess more practice and warmer weather.
I have a question…I am thinking about ordering a 2016 Z06 with the competition seats. You don’t hear many people talking about how comfortable the seats are…I was wondering if any one had an opinion…
I will use it as a 2nd or 3rd car that I’ll take on road trips during the summer.
I have my second 2015 C7 this has the comp seats and I like them much more than the standard seats. Just take your wallet out of the back pocket!!
I also heard that the 5/160 warrenty is bring reduced and the 4 oil changes to 2 is coming for 2016. That just not right. I think GM is making a mistake.
