2016 Chevrolet Camaro To Have Corvette-esque Tail Lights?

If you were one of the contestants on Jeopardy and host Alex Trebek said something like: “this is the most controversial styling element found on the fifth-generation Camaro,” there’s pretty much no doubt you’d be the first to buzz in with: “what are the taillights?”

Those now infamous taillights were the subject of much criticism when the current model first hit showrooms back in 2010, but the cars’ mid-cycle refresh seemed to help tamp much of the initial uproar. Sort of.

Still, talk to a group of Camaro fans and there’s almost no doubt one of them will eventually wade the conversation into taillight territory.

This, of course, has left many of us eager to see how Chevrolet will style the rear fascia on the incoming six-generation, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, set to debut at Belle Isle on May 16.

Now, thanks to a new batch of spy shots, it seems we’ve gotten our best look at the 2016 Camaro’s rear light fixtures yet.

Instead of playing off classic Camaro designs, like how the current car recalled the taillights of the first-gen Camaro, the new taillights on the 2016 Camaro appear to emulate those seen on a different vehicle entirely: the Corvette.

Hey, remember when everyone was complaining that the C7 Corvette “stole” the taillamp design of the fifth-generation Camaro? We sure do.

Have a look at the new spy shots here, then come on back and let us know what you think.

  2. We have been seeing the Corvette-inspired taillights on in the spy shots for a while now… nothing new.

  3. Yeah as ohno said on spy shots the taillights are a bit angled and have the shape of the C7, but that doesn’t mean much it could just be a decoy

  4. I hate these “so called” spy shots with all of that camo crap. I can’t make out what you are attempting to show. As far as I’m concerned those photos are worthless.

    1. As far as everybody else is concerned, you’re an idiot.
