2016 Cadillac ELR To Land In Europe Soon?

Europeans could soon be able to wrap their hands around the wheel of a new 2016 Cadillac ELR, if we are to believe a report from InAutoNews.

The new ELR was originally slated to be unveiled at Geneva 2015, but after Cadillac removed the announcement from its press release, the car remained MIA until last week.

The unsubstantiated report says the vehicle will arrive in Europe “in the near future,” though no specific timeline is provided.

The publication says, “an insider within Cadillac has officially confirmed” the vehicle, though it seems that person spoke preemptively, as the identity of the source is not revealed.

We heard last month that Cadillac also plans to export the CT6 to select countries in Europe, and could possibly receive a diesel engine in order to keep it on par with other oil-burners from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz.

While we aren’t expecting the ELR to offer such an engine, but the 2016 Cadillac CT6 announcement does add an extra bit of weight to the report of the brand looking to eventually re-enter the European market in force. But gradual steps need to be taken first.
