We’ve all owned, or know someone who has owned, a car with a leaky convertible top, sunroof, or even T-tops. It’s not pleasant to be driving along and see drops of water bathing your cup holders. Luckily, the 2016 Buick Cascada promises a leak-free soft-top, and Buick wants to show us just how it earns that certification.
The 2016 Cascada convertible undergoes a hardcore weatherproofing test to ensure no water enters the cabin. Our sort of goofy protagonist explains this test is performed at the end of the Cascada’s assembly line, where each nozzle produces 1.9 gallons of water per nozzle. As the video points out, through the ten minute water test, that’s enough water to fill 5,500 standard bathtubs.
Every day over 130,000 gallons of water are pumped at a 2016 Cascada leaving the factory, where quality inspectors ensure it has the same durability as a hard-top vehicle. Don’t worry, the water isn’t wasted either. 98.5 percent of the water is recycled and reused for the next test.
You can drive with a peace of mind knowing you won’t have to be that person with the leaky convertible top, and if the weather does change abruptly on you, the Cascada’s top can be operated at speeds up to 23 mph. Check out the test for yourself down below.

When is the Cascada expected to hit our shores?
Spring 2016.
Like many, I too, really hope there’ll be an engine option of 250+ HP. I’m not in the market for a 1st year vehicle anyway, even though it’s already been introduced in other markets several years ago.
Thanks.
250hp + GS model would be great. It would really set it apart in the market already with few real competitors.
