2001 Jurassic T-Rex Is For When A Hummer Is Too Mainstream

No, this isn’t a truck from the famed Jurassic Park series. It is, however, a fairly unique interpretation of the classic Hummer H1 body style.

Jurassic Truck Corporation was born under the assumption they could take on the then minuscule Hummer brand, which was under the not-so-miniscule umbrella of Old GM. In 1999, the company was ambitious, setting a goal to surpass Hummer by 2001, they year this 2001 Jurassic T-Rex was built. The Arlington, Texas based company has since gone defunct, and no legitimate source seems to know where they dissolved to.

Contrasting the company’s goals to overtake Hummer is the fact the 2001 Jurassic T-Rex employs a GM 6.0-liter V8 engine to power the mammoth vehicle. But even though we say mammoth, the truck actually weighs 2,000 pounds lighter than a Hummer H1. The engine was paired to a four-speed automatic transmission, and featured four-wheel drive. Inside, the interior is trimmed neatly, though, its kit-car upbringings seems apparent.

The company also was bullish on pricing with their Jurassic T-Rex, undercutting the Hummer H1 by nearly $30,000.

That paints an interesting picture for how this niche vehicle will do when it crosses the auction block at Mecum Kansas City. We can’t imagine this vehicle has appreciated in value immensely, but it is an auction after all.

  1. Time to Rethink and Bring back Hummer since GM employs Extremely Lite materials, Powerful Diesels, Crazy Luxury Interiors and let the Engineers and Designers get it on!!!! 😉
