As Chevrolet continues its dominance in the large-SUV segment, Motor Trend decided it needed to sample the long-standing nameplate’s livability, ultimately taking in a Crystal Red Tintcoat Tahoe LT.
Initial reactions from MT suggest the Chevrolet Tahoe leans more on the side of “utility” rather than “sport,” noting a tighter squeeze in parking spaces compared to the outgoing Acura MDX long-term vehicle, which was three inches less in width.
Although it’s no sports car, the Tahoe put down fairly respectable numbers as MT sent the Tahoe off to Fontana to run standard vehicles tests. Equipped with the 355 hp 5.3-liter V8, 0-60 happened in 6.7 seconds, with the quarter mile finished in 15.1 seconds. Not too shabby for a 5,338 pound vehicle. Maybe there is a little more sport than what appears at first glance.
Upon its arrival, comfy seats were also noted as major pluses, with the phrase “you sit in them, not on them” used in the initial reactions to the vehicle. One little fault did pop up, although minor. MT reports the navigation system shows the vehicle in the Santa Barbara area, a bit of a haul from where the car is actually stationed, and something to surely be worked out right away.
We wish our friends at Motor Trend happy trails with one of the last living true SUVs left on the market today, and will follow their updates closely.

Nice SUV.
GMC’s and Ford’s absolutely smoke Chevrolet’s anymore in the truck/suv arena. They’re just plain nicer all around for about the same money.
I disagree. Ford’s interior plastics look as though they were supplied by Fisher Price, no matter the model or trim level. Hard, shiny surfaces everywhere, even on the new F series. GM certainly didn’t write the book on good interiors, but they are better than Ford.
Again are you on your meds? What have you done with the real magirus? LOL!
I would like to be able to have cooled seats and rear air leveling suspension with the z71 version.
