A few months prior, Holden reached out to its customers and fans and handed them the task of bestowing the latest Commodore special edition with its name. After over 1,000 entries, the brand chose “Lightning” as the name of the new special edition Commodore. Now we have an idea of how much the Lightning will set you back.
The Holden Commodore SV6 Lightning will have a $1,500 premium over the standard SV6 sedan, and is coupled with the following goodies:
- 20-inch forged alloy wheels
- Gloss black lip spoiler
- Gloss black fender vents
- Gloss black front grille surrounds
- Black side decals
- Alloy foot pedals on SV6 Lightnings equipped with an automatic gearbox
For those interested in the Ute body style, the SV6 Lighting adds a $4,000 premium over the regular SV6 Ute. It features the same styling upgrades, but adds a Slimline hard tonneau cover for the bed area, unique to the Lighting edition.
Holden’s Executive Director of Marketing, Bill Mott, said the name ‘Lightning’ perfectly represented the exciting content this special edition offered as well as its sports styling stand-out looks.
“Lightning is an exciting and energetic name, and I congratulate Mr. Wong on an inspired suggestion. I would also like to thank the many other people that entered the competition, once again demonstrating Australia’s love and interest in the Holden brand.”
The Lightning special edition vehicles will begin arriving at Holden dealers as we near the end of March, and will be on sale immediately following.
