Does This 2015 Corvette Z06 Look Better With Scissor Doors?

When Chevrolet first pulled the wraps off of their C7 Corvette Z06, the word ‘supercar’ kept getting tossed around. It wasn’t without good reason, though, as the Z06 has the numbers – and the looks – to back up the proclamation.

Despite its aggressive appearance and 650 horsepower LT1 engine, one Corvette Forum user thought the C7 Z06 was missing a certain flashy feature which is also normally exclusive to supercars: scissor doors.

Aftermarket Lamborghini-style hinges are usually sold to overly imaginative Cavalier or Honda Civic owners, giving them a slightly negative connotation in the car world. But at the risk of putting our sense of style into question, we actually think this scissor door install looks pretty good on the Corvette. It has the looks and performance to back up the “look at me!” doors, so they don’t look overly out of place, and the owner says they help him fit his 6’3″ frame in the sports car.

We probably wouldn’t do this to our own Corvette, but we can’t fault a car fan for wanting to make their ride unique. This is also the first scissor-door Z06 we’ve seen, so if the owner wanted to stand out from the crowd, he’s succeeded. Check out all the photos at Corvette Forum and let us know what you think of this somewhat controversial mod in the comments.

  1. Why don’t we put neon on and even larger wheels?

These doors on the factory cars generally are there because they are used on a tub like construction like McLaren. Most cars even Lambo have given them up.

The bolt on kits are novelty items at best and will make you the king of the trailer park.

As you can guess I am not a fan. LOL!

So many other nice things to spend money on for a Corvette than these value reducing items.

  3. These types of doors seem to be more practical in tight parking spots, since 2-dr sport car doors are usually longer than the front doors on 4-dr cars and are easier to hit when hurled open, but knowing these bolt-ons are mostly for flash makes them douchey.

Although I wouldn’t mind seeing the mid-engine Corvette doors opening the way the Koenigseggs doors do, or maybe gullwings Tadge? lol.

  4. it would look far more better with scissor doors to give a spirit to the aggressive appearance or maybe innovate something with NEW LOOK and FEEL.
