Chevrolet Offers Us A Sneak Peek At The 2016 Malibu: Video

Ahead of its official debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu allowed itself to be shot by the automaker running about the Milford Proving Grounds in Michigan, affording us the best look at the car we’ve had yet.

The video shows the all-new 2016 Malibu being put through its paces on various grueling tests: miles and miles of driving on a closed course, exhaustive suspension deflection testing, water fording, heat endurance, and wind tunnel testing. Of course, the mix of obstacles thrown at the car is certainly not specific to the model, but using it in the video does lend the camouflage-clad Malibu a certain dramatic presence, don’t you think?

Our most pressing question regarding the 2016 Malibu is whether or not it will have AWD to compete point-for-point with the Ford Fusion (and Subaru Legacy, to an extent). Unfortunately, this video isn’t giving anything away in that regard, nor do we see any additional bits of glass, plastic or sheet metal beyond what we’ve seen spied and teased already.

We suppose we’ll just have to wait for the Malibu’s April 1st unveiling in New York, like the rest of the motoring world. Oh bother.

  1. At first I thought there was a hint of AWD but then I saw it was the rolling road in the wind tunnel.

  4. I’m considering a Regal GS awd for my wife. Can’t wait to see this. If it can be had with awd and a 270 horse turbo four it could be our next vehicle. I’m betting the new Bu will be sweet.

  5. One excellent remedy for this model is the rear visibility issue . It looks like you can actually see something out of it now . This , I’m projecting , means that the rest of the greenhouse is much improved and opening up the interior . This is only 4 years after the great selling 2012 model , oh well , Rome was not built in a day , was it ??
