Cadillac has just announced a new Vice President of its European operations: Dr. Andreas Schaaf, formerly of BMW AG. He will start his new appointment come July 1st.
The man currently in charge, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe Dr. Thomas Sedran, will be leaving the company on June 30th, presumably to seek out a shorter title. He served as interim CEO of Opel, helping to orchestrate the “Opel Drive 2022!” growth strategy. He also oversaw the cessation of new Chevrolet vehicle sales in the region.
Cadillac Europe’s new Vice President-to-be, Dr. Andreas Schaaf, remarked that he is “excited about the opportunity to join Cadillac and I am looking forward to working closely with the team and our retail partners on building a solid business foundation for the Cadillac brand internationally and here in Europe.” According to Cadillac, he has 18-some years experience in sales and marketing for premium automotive brands.
Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen welcomes the appointment, saying: “Andreas is a great addition to the Cadillac leadership team. He will help us to further refine our global retail and customer experience strategy, as well as set up Europe for future growth.”

Hmmm we have been given the Schaff!
Keep this up and the advertising will say Das Cadillac is ya good!
All kidding aside they needed people from Europe and globally to market and build the new Cadillac’s. You can not expect a life time Detroiter to fully understand other markets unless they have spent a good amount of time there and understand the customers in the segment.
Like him or not but Bob Lutz was as effective in Europe and Detroit as any being an American raised in Europe he had a good perspective of both cultures.
I like the long term thinking of Cadillac here. Even though Cadillac is taking a step back in their concentration on Europe they are still putting in place experienced and knowledgeable people to run and grow Cadillac in a very competitive market.
Let’s hope that GM’S revolving door of executives in Europe is coming to an end.
