For Chevrolet Camaro aficionados, the “IROC” performance package on cars from 1985 to 1990 is a coveted and cherished thing. Conversely, when this particular example was produced in 1990, the “1LE” package was a little-known option from Chevrolet Performance, and one not even available as a Regular Production Option (RPO).
Consequently, for the 1990 model year, a very limited number of 28 Camaro IROC-Z 1LE cars were built. This eBay listing offers one of them, and it is miraculously well-preserved – especially for what was considered a race series car. It has just 2,259 miles on the odometer, and an astonishing lack of rust for a 25 year-old car. See the photos of the car’s underbelly if you don’t believe us.
The 28 Chevrolet Camaros IROC-Z 1LE produced for 1990 were Z/28 models with the lowered and stiffened suspension of the IROC package, and for 1990, a power bump to 245 HP. The 1LE package was only triggered with the G92 Performance Axle, G80 LSD rear, and no C60 A/C option. It added an oil cooler, performance dual exhaust, heavy duty disc brakes all around, an aluminum driveshaft, spare wheel, different shocks, a different fuel pickup and a tank baffle, etc., etc.
This eBay listing, then, is for an impeccable example of the most impeccable road-going race car to come out of the Chevrolet Camaro range for 1990. Impossibly rare, and effortlessly cool, it would make a superb addition to any Camaro lover’s collection.

Ahh, it’s an automatic.
=P The single, solitary spoiling attribute.
A automatic “road race optioned” IROC Camaro? If there ever was a n example of a car ordered and optioned soly for future “collectable potential” this is it.
Too bad its been saddled with a auto. The owner could have been forgiven if he went with the 5speed. Oh well at least its a worthy example of how awesome IROCs were when new!
The 350 TPI motor was not available with the 5-speed transmission. You had to decide if you wanted the big motor, or the manual transmission. The 350 motor is so torque-y that under racing conditions it shreds the manual that was available at that time.
