2015 Corvette Z06 Somehow Fails To Make Final List For World Performance Car Of The Year

To be blunt, we’re a tad shocked the Corvette Z06 hasn’t made the final cut of contenders for the 2015 World Performance Car of the Year. There’s no denying the C7 Z06 does supercar things without the supercar price, a true world beater in our eyes. The finalists have been announced during the 2015 Geneva Auto Show, and the road continues for the Brits and Germans, with the winner to be announced during the 2015 New York International Auto Show on April 2nd.

WCOTY is divided into a five different categories, starting with World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Green Car and finally World Car Design of the Year. Judges have instead narrowed World Performance COTY down to three contendors, as follows:

  • BMW M4 Coupe/M3 Sedan
  • Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupe
  • Mercedes-Benz AMG GT

Cadillac was also struck down from the World Luxury Car list, where the ATS Coupe and Escalade both made a showing on the shortlist. Like the Z06, they are moved to the sidelines for the following:

  • BMW i8
  • Mercedes-Benz S Coupe
  • Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB

Yet despite how luxurious the Escalade is and how well the ATS Coupe handles compared to its rivals, we can wrap our heads around this decision. But we’re not sure how judges placed cars like the BMW M3 and M4 over the likes of the Z06.

No matter how bold and flashy the Escalade is, it’ll never be as douchey as “Autobiography Black LWB”, the name of the RR alone should have excluded it.

No big loss as “That which is good or great makes itself known, no matter how loud the clamor of denial. That which deserves to live – lives. “

    Solution?

Pit those so called World Performance COTY contenders up against the Z06 once their little college awards ceremony in over!

    Done!

The trend shows the folks in Geneva prefer the Europeans…..While all the finalists are formidable contenders, I too believe the Z06 should’ve been listed among them. If I were a betting man I’d say the heat soaking issue may have contributed to it’s exclusion…..Oh well, The ‘Vette has enough accolades, the world knows its credence.
